February 11, 2009- Lunar Year Celebration on A&M Campus

The Confucius Institute, the Institute for Pacific Asia, the Dining Servies and the Office of International Outreach are organizing the Lunar New Year 2009 on February 12 at Sbisa Dinner Hall. Program starts at 5pm. Free cultural events organized to mark the occasion include Lion dance, Chinese Folk Dance and Shaolin Kong Fu performance. Tickets to dinner at Sbisa Hall will cost $8.25 for adults and $5 for childen aged 5-12 (dinner is free for children under 5).

5:30 p.m. Event kickoff with opening remarks by Ambassador Bost, Vice President for Global Initiatives
5:35p.m. Welcoming remarks by General Weber, Vice President for Student Affairs
5:40 p.m. Chinese Lion Dance-Shaolin Kufu Academy in Houston
5:55 p.m. Mongolian folk dance “The Silence of Sacred Mountain”-Yixiao Liu
6: 00p.m. Shaolin Kong Fu Performance- Shaolin Kufu Academy in Houston
6:10 p.m. “Gong Xi Ni (New Year’s greetings to you)”-a Chinese song by students from A&M Chinese class
6:15 p.m. Drum and lion dance to wrap up the performance.
6:20 p.m. Starts serving Chinese buffet Dinner at Sbisa Dining Hall.
