May 7 - 2009: IPA Staff Attend National Chinese Language Conference in Chicago

IPA assistant director Christine Yang along with visiting language instructor Ying Wang attended the National Chinese Language Conference, last week in Chicago, Illinois. They were joined by hundreds of educators from 44 states and 8 different countries to promote unified and sustainable Chinese language and cultural programs.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Making Connections, Building Partnerships,” and provided a venue for a diverse group of K-12 educators to develop curriculum, improve cultural awareness, and prepare qualified instructors for global competence.

The conference was hosted by the Confucius Headquarters, National Language Service Corps, and the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. The Confucius Headquarters formally known as Hanban provides funding to the Confucius Institute here at Texas A&M University.
