August 04 - 2009: Howdy, Texas A&M Mein Aapka Swagat Hain!

Texas A&M University hosted a campus visit by Consul General  Sanjiv Arora of the Consulate General of India in Houston on July 8, 2009. 

Consul General Arora came to campus to get a better understanding of Texas A&M’s engagement with India, and to seek ways to strengthen the interaction between the university and Indian institutions.  While on campus, he met with Interim President Bowen Loftin and Ambassador Eric M. Bost (Ret) at the President’s Office.  He also met with several deans from various colleges while on campus to learn about their initiatives in India and to provide input into ways to strengthen ties with India.

While on campus, Consul General Arora met with students from the India Association in the International Center at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center as well as faculty representatives of the Friends of India Committee.

India’s diplomatic mission to the United States includes an embassy in the Washington D.C. and four regional Consulate Generals.  The Consulate General of India in Houston currently serves the international relations needs of Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. Consul General Arora joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1984 and has served in various capacities in India’s Diplomatic Missions in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Sri Lanka and Czech Republic. He was named Consul General in Houston in November of 2008.
