September 03 - 2009: Twenty Delegates from Beijing Visits A&M
The Institute of Pacific Asia welcomed a group of twenty administrators and faculty members from the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC) to Texas A&M. The delegation was led by BIGC Vice President Wehong Zheng to learn about potential collaborations with Texas A&M and the University’s faculty development programs. While at A&M, the delegates received a power point overview of the University in Mandarin from Christine Yang, Assistant Director for the Institute for Pacific Asia. In addition to the overview of A&M, delegates received a presentation on faculty development by Dr. Ben Wu and Dr. Chandrika Rajagopal, the Director and Program Advancement Coordinator respectively for A&M’s Center for Teaching Excellence. The delegation concluded their visit to Texas A&M with a talk by Dr. Jia Wang , Assistant Professor at the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development. The visitation was formally requested by the Office of the Mayor of Houston which has made exchange agreements with the government of Beijing since 2006. Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication is a general polytechnic university of technology, humanities, arts, and management located in Beijing, China with 7,500 students.
