October 1 2008 -Greetings from the Institute for Pacific Asia on the occasion of China ’s National Day
The Institute for Pacific Asia takes this opportunity to wish all our Chinese Students and alumni a heartfelt 59th anniversary of China's National Day. We are proud of our Chinese Students and hope Texas A&M University will remain the best destination for Chinese International students in the years to come. The People's Rpublic of China was founded on October 1, 1949 with a ceremony at Tiananmen Square. The Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China on December 2, 1949 and declared that October 1 is the National Day. The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau with a variety of government-organised festivities, including fireworks and concerts. Public places, such as Tiananmen Square in Beijing, are decorated in a festive theme. Portraits of revered leaders, such as Sun Yat-Sen, are publicly displayed. Please do keep in touch with us and let us know what is happening with Aggies in Indonesia! You might be pleased to know that a recent Forbes magazine survey rated an Aggie degree among the most valuable degrees in the world: http://dmc-news. tamu.edu/templates/?a=6459&z=15
